The quiet presence behind the camera

I believe photography is a means of gratitude, a way of remembering. Every photograph is evidence of the life we've been given, big and small moments alike.

So I don't take it lightly - the privilege it is to be welcomed into one's birth space, to witness a new life enter the world, to preserve these beyond precious moments.

How I Found Photography

As a tween, I picked up my mom’s camera and started taking some of the cheesiest tumblr-inspired photos ever. I roped my siblings and as many of my friends as I could into this creative pursuit. Those silly beginnings paid off, because over time it morphed into documenting authentic life - whether it be the daily beauty around me or milestones in the lives of others.

I could have never known that this little hobby would become such a blessing to me and the wonderful folks I’ve had the privilege of capturing.

Why Birth Photography?

My interest and fascination with birth had been growing for several years when I decided to attend DONA doula training. It was a beautiful weekend learning about the birthing process and how to support a laboring mother. Being surrounded by like-minded women, hearing everyone’s stories, and learning what led them there inspired so much respect and awe for mothers and God’s design in childbirth.

Fast forward a few years, and I was able to attend and photograph my first birth. I was struck by how it felt simultaneously ordinary and earth-shattering (in the best way). Women give birth every single day, and yet each family is forever altered and the world forever changed because of this new little life.

In the birth space

When you invite me into your birth space, my role is to observe and document - not to direct or interfere. I move gently, read the room, and work with respect for the people present.

I photograph birth as it unfolds, without posing or interruption.

I honor the rhythm of the room and the wishes of the birthing family.

I collaborate respectfully with your birth team.

I remain a calm, steady presence throughout.
